DOMAINE DE LA CONDEMINE Macon Peronne

If you look hard enough you will often find vignerons in lesser known appellations who have not only the ability to know how to make good wines but also know where they should look to produce them. The reason that a part of a well known region might not be producing good wines is not always an indication that the ground on which vines are grown in is not capable of growing better vines, but more probably that for some reason or other there just was not anyone there who cared enough, had the funds or were forward looking enough to produce an outstandingly good wine.

In line with our policy of shipping only from the best producers and proprietors that we like personally, we present Domaine de la Condemine, which is run by our friends Pierre and Veronique Janny. Domaine de la Condemine has been owned by the Janny s since 1982. It is approximately four hectares and has a mixture of old and new vines, the oldest being 50-55 years. The bulk of the vineyard is planted with Chardonnay from which the Macon Peronne is made. Pierre Janny is undoubtedly showing how good wines can be from this appellation.
